Cessna Citation CJ3+

The 2014 upgrade that gave the CJ3 airframe FADEC-controlled engines and Garmin G3000 touchscreen avionics — still in production until the CJ3 Gen3 took over, and today the newest CJ3 you can buy on the used market.

The Citation CJ3+, in brief

Cessna introduced the Citation CJ3+ in 2014 as a mid-life upgrade to the CJ3 airframe rather than a clean-sheet redesign: same cabin, same wing, same Williams engine family, but with FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) replacing the CJ3’s mechanical engine controls, and Garmin’s G3000 touchscreen avionics suite replacing the Collins Pro Line 21 flight deck. Cessna built more than 500 CJ3+s over an 11-year production run — longer than the original CJ3’s own run — before the line was replaced by the Citation CJ3 Gen3 in early 2026.

Power comes from two Williams FJ44-3A-24 turbofans, each rated at 2,820 lbf thrust, the FADEC-controlled version of the same core engine used in the original CJ3. Like every CitationJet, the CJ3+ is single-pilot certified.

Where the CJ3+ sits in the CitationJet lineage

The CJ3+ is the middle chapter of three in this specific airframe’s story: the original CJ3 (2004-2014, mechanical engines, Pro Line 21 avionics) came first, the CJ3+ (2014-2025, FADEC engines, Garmin G3000) came next, and the Citation CJ3 Gen3 (certified October 2025, in service since January 2026, Garmin G3000 PRIME with Emergency Autoland) has now taken over as the current-production model. Because the CJ3+ was in production for a full decade, it spans a wide range of avionics sub-revisions and cabin options — later-production examples are closer in equipment to the Gen3 than early 2014-2015 aircraft are.

What financing a Citation CJ3+ looks like

Pre-owned CJ3+s trade broadly from about $6.2M for early-production (2014-2016) examples up to $8.5M or more for late-production airframes with low total time and an enrolled engine program. Because the CJ3+ only recently ended production in favor of the Gen3, well-maintained late-model CJ3+s carry some of the least depreciation of any light jet on the used market. FLYING Finance structures terms to 20 years with 15%-20% down typical, and can factor an active Williams TAP Blue or similar engine-maintenance program into the underwriting.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Cessna Citation CJ3+ cost?

Pre-owned CJ3+s trade from about $6.2M for early-production (2014-2016) examples up to $8.5M or more for late-production aircraft with low total time and an enrolled engine program.

What’s the difference between the CJ3+ and the CJ3 Gen3?

The CJ3+ (2014-2025) uses Garmin G3000 avionics and FADEC-controlled FJ44-3A-24 engines. The CJ3 Gen3, which replaced it in 2026, adds Garmin G3000 PRIME avionics with Emergency Autoland, a full-regime autothrottle, and updated cabin technology on the same basic airframe and engine family.

How many Citation CJ3+s were built?

Cessna built more than 500 CJ3+s between 2014 and 2025, before the line was replaced by the Citation CJ3 Gen3.

Is the Citation CJ3+ single-pilot certified?

Yes. Like the rest of the CitationJet family, the CJ3+ is certified for single-pilot operation.

Can you finance a Citation CJ3+?

Yes. FLYING Finance offers terms to 20 years on Citation CJ3+s, typically with 15%-20% down, and can structure around an active engine-maintenance program.
