Ownership Analysis
The M500 is the 2015-and-later version of the Piper Meridian, a pressurized six-seat single-engine turboprop powered by the Pratt & Whitney PT6A-42A (500 shp), paired with Garmin G1000 NXi avionics and modern safety features. It gives owners stepping up from pressurized pistons turbine reliability and Jet-A economics in a familiar PA-46 airframe.
Current-generation avionics remove most panel-upgrade uncertainty, leaving PT6A maintenance, engine program enrollment, and pressurization upkeep as the main ownership cost drivers. Because the M500 shares its airframe with the Malibu, Mirage, and M350 family, mechanic familiarity and parts support are widespread.
The M500’s newer fleet and the PT6A’s support network give lenders good collateral visibility. It is priced below the M600, and loan terms fall under the Turboprop & Jet tier.
