Ownership Analysis

The Duke B60, produced from 1974 to 1982, is Beechcraft’s pressurized, cabin-class piston twin powered by turbocharged Lycoming TIO-541 engines (380 hp each), known for its striking lines and high-altitude speed. Its pressurized cabin and turbocharged engines let it cruise in the low flight levels, above much of the weather that slows unpressurized twins.

The TIO-541 engines are expensive to overhaul and less common than mainstream Lycomings, making engine times the single biggest value driver. Pressurization and complex systems add to maintenance costs, and a number of owners have pursued turboprop conversions. Parts and maintenance expertise for the Duke’s specific systems are less widespread than for mainstream piston twins, which should factor into maintenance planning.

Lenders will weigh engine status and maintenance history heavily given the Duke’s costly systems and small fleet. Loan terms fall under the Certified Piston tier.
