An Unforgettable Oshkosh: 2025

If you’ve never experienced EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, mark your calendar now for July 21-27, 2025. This isn’t just another fly-in, it’s what we pilots affectionately call “aviation’s family reunion,” and it’s absolutely worth prioritizing in your summer plans.

Last year’s event broke all records with an astounding 686,000 attendees and approximately 10,000 aircraft flying in. That’s a testament to what makes Oshkosh special, it’s where the entire aviation community comes together to celebrate our shared passion.

What Makes Oshkosh Unmissable

For one magical week each summer, Wittman Regional Airport transforms into the busiest airport in the world. The control tower (118.5 for those planning to fly in) handles more movements than any other tower on the planet during this period. It’s a carefully choreographed aviation dance that’s impressive to witness even if you’re arriving by car.

The scale is truly mind-boggling. The event sprawls across Wittman Regional Airport, Pioneer Airport, and the Vette/Blust Seaplane Base on Lake Winnebago. Whether you fly a Cessna 172 or a homebuilt experimental, you’ll find your people here.

Something for Every Aviation Enthusiast

What can you expect at AirVenture? Frankly, everything aviation-related under the sun:

-Daily air shows featuring the world’s most talented aerobatic performers
-Nearly 1,000 forums and workshops where you can expand your aviation knowledge
-Thousands of aircraft on display, from vintage warbirds to cutting-edge experimentals
-Special evening programming at the Theater in the Woods
-The spectacular Night Air Show on Wednesday and Saturday (worth staying late for)
-Countless opportunities to connect with fellow pilots and aviation enthusiasts

For piston aircraft owners specifically, this is your paradise. The latest avionics, engine technologies, interior upgrades, and performance modifications are all on display. You can speak directly with manufacturers, get hands-on demonstrations, and often secure special “Oshkosh pricing” that isn’t available anywhere else.
 The Economic Engine of Aviation

Beyond the fun and camaraderie, AirVenture is a significant economic driver. A recent study estimated the event generates over $170 million in economic impact for the surrounding area. When you attend, you’re not just having a great time, you’re supporting an event that strengthens the entire general aviation ecosystem.
